Audition Information

We are always on the lookout for passionate and dedicated individuals to join the Lumina Theatre Academy family. Whether you're a seasoned performer or just starting out, we encourage you to audition. Below you'll find details about upcoming audition dates, requirements, and how to register.

Upcoming Audition Dates

  • Fall Conservatory Program: August 15th, 2024, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM PST
  • Winter Workshop Series: November 20th, 2024, 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM PST
  • Spring Intensive Course: February 10th, 2025, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM PST

All auditions will be held at Lumina Theatre Academy, located at 123 Arts Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012.

Audition Requirements

  • Prepared Monologue: Choose a monologue from a published play that showcases your acting range and personality. The monologue should be no longer than two minutes.
  • Cold Reading: You will be asked to read a scene provided at the audition. Be prepared to make strong choices and demonstrate your ability to adapt quickly.
  • Optional: A short song (32 bars) can be performed if you are interested in musical theatre opportunities. Please bring sheet music in the correct key for the provided accompanist. An acapella performance is also acceptable.
  • Headshot and Resume: Please bring a current headshot and resume highlighting your acting experience, training, and any relevant skills.
  • Registration Form: Complete the online registration form prior to your audition date. A link to the form is provided below.

Available Scripts for Cold Reading

Excerpts from the following plays will be used for cold reading auditions:

  • A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams
  • Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller
  • Hamlet by William Shakespeare
  • Fences by August Wilson
  • Angels in America by Tony Kushner

You do not need to prepare these scripts in advance. They will be provided to you at the audition.

Registration Details

To register for an audition, please follow these steps:

  1. Visit our Contact page and send us an email with "Audition Registration" in the subject line.
  2. In the email, please indicate which audition date you are interested in attending.
  3. Attach a copy of your headshot and resume.
  4. Our audition coordinator, Sarah Jenkins, will contact you within 48 hours to confirm your registration and provide you with further instructions.
  5. A $25 non-refundable audition fee is required to secure your spot. Payment details will be provided in the confirmation email.
